Water Taxi & Kayak Transportation

If it was easy to get there, you wouldn't want to go. Even after you get to Ketchikan, boat transportation is needed for sea kayakers to access many of the best paddling and camping destinations in Southeast Alaska's roadless wilderness. Check out our Misty Fjords Trip Recommendations for ideas on planning a trip. Southeast Sea Kayaks has Ketchikan's only charter boats designed specifically for transporting kayaks. We also have a kayak trailer for Alaska Marine Ferry terminal pick-ups and offer drop-offs at launching points on the Ketchikan road system.

Water Taxi Service
Please call or email us for water taxi rates. Prices are based on distance and the number of passengers for the trip. We provide transportation to multiple drop sites including:

  • Winstanley Island
  • Punchbowl Cove (Rudyerd Bay)
  • Hut Point (Walker Cove)
  • Alava Bay
  • Fish Creek (in Thorne Arm)
  • Blind Pass Cabin

We can drop at many other sites and most Forest Service Cabins. Please call us for pricing and trip planning information.

Whether you need transportation for your personal kayaks or are renting from us, we offer more than just a water taxi service. We offer trip planning and trip recommendations. We can help you develop and file a float plan with local insight and advice. We can comfortably transport up to six people with their kayaks and camping gear to destinations within the Misty Fjords, around Revillagigedo Island and even Prince of Wales Island.

Weather Considerations
It is important to remember that Southeast Alaska may experience severe weather conditions which make it unsafe for us to transport by boat. When you are planning a trip build in a weather factor - it is not advisable to plan to depart from Ketchikan the same day you return from a kayaking trip as weather may cause delays. It is always a good idea to purchase travel insurance for your trip.
