Kayak Touring in Southeast Alaska
The information here and in the PDF Planner is designed to help paddlers plan and prepare for sea kayak trips in Misty Fjords National Monument and other areas near Ketchikan. This is a great place to start: there are also many good books about kayak touring and the USFS Misty Fjords Ranger District is another excellent source of information.

There is not currently a guide book for kayaking Misty Fjords, so we have put our years of experience into the Misty Fjords Planner which is available as a free PDF download. The planner has detailed information on the Fjords however, the section on planning and preparation is helpful for anyone planning a kayak trip in Southeast Alaska.

Where do you want to paddle? Most Misty Fjords trips will require a water taxi drop or pick up or if you have time you can paddle to the Fjords. Not keen on camping? Check out the trips based at the Forest Service Cabins in our area. On a budget or short on time? There are several great trips close to Ketchikan which can be done with minimal time and expense.
